- Despite governments prioritising a reduction in plastic waste only around 10 per cent of plastic waste is currently recycled
- Use of takeaway plastic containers could be on the increase due to the COVID lockdown across much of NSW
- State government targets for plastic reduction and re-use do not specifically target single use takeaway food containers
